Not Enough Gritting Salt - A Climate Education

Why the merry fuck have councils not stored enough grit?

Here's the thing, the UK occupies similar latitudes to Belarus, which means London's climate ought to be similar to Minsk's, but we're lucky - we get the North Atlantic Conveyor bringing us lots of lovely warmth.

Of course the amount of warmth is variable, and it's really not the sort of thing you rely on during, say, winter. The default position of the UK's winter climate ought to be 'cold and snowy', with grit and services kept with that in mind, not 'mild and wet.'

The Jamaican authorities could be understandably caught out by a massive snowstorm, the UK ones though? Fucking cretins.

  1. Maybe they will be really well prepared for all those heatstroke cases brought on by 'global warming', though..?

  2. Of COURSE they didn't need to stock more grit.

Our wonderful Met Office told them & us it'd be a mild winter.

  3. @Julia - lol! Only issue is if there is truth in GW, our summers will start being like this :(

@Joe Public - the Met Office are like a broken clock when it comes to being right. I can appreciate UK weather is especially difficult to predict, but when they trot out things like the BBQ summer claims, it's ludicrous.

As for the 25% pay rise... Utter joke. We hear tales of 'fat cat' bosses rises in the private sector being 'insulting to those who wont see a pay raise', well, what exactly is this raise then? If the privatise the Met, not a problem, but when in the public sector, with the debts we have, it's stupid.

And when you factor in that WeatherAction have better predictive results, it's all rather embarrassing for the Met Office!
