I was away for a few days, and checking up on local news I find a local lad has been shot dead.
Now Junaid Khan may just be an innocent - he certainly doesn't come across the hard core gangsta type, his appearance in a bullet-proof vest here makes him more like someone who knew a few idiots who are though - but his death highlights a massive problem in the north west, namely many Asian youths are making a mint by being drug dealers. Must make their families so proud.
That isn't the core problem, the issue is that the police and local councils are afraid of doing something about it lest the local Asians decide to have another riot, followed by the bad press, accusations of racism, endless reports, tabloid hacks descending like vultures, and the London metropolitan bubble having it say about the horrors of the northern wastelands.
So the police and council do the minimum.
Well, now that people are getting shot, maybe the useless bastards will get their act together and sort something out. Fuck the press, if they come up here to do a hatchet job maybe we'll get lucky and they'll get carted back Watford-way in a bodybag.
I honestly don't think the Asian community leaders will mind a crackdown, after all the immigrant path consists of the the first two generations making sacrifices, saving up and working all hours in order to send third generation to university to get a good job. That's 'good job' as in doctor, accountant, lawyer - not local gangster. I can't for the life of me think Patel snr and Patel jnr will be terribly impressed at Patel III for pissing away all their hard work.
Problem is Patel III views his fellow gangsters as an answer to many of the teenage questions of alienation, which are magnified for non-whites in areas of little integration, as well as a short cut to money, success, and women. I have no doubt Patel III will feel content at owning a 35k BMW before hitting 21 years of age and without having to do all that unpleasant hard work normally associated with buying such a car. And unless the negatives are rammed home - say, a long stretch in jail, bank account seized and car crushed or sold - he's going to make a great role model for his friends and family.
You will find some issues in cracking down - the more insular will want to deal with the issue internally, but since that's not working maybe it's time for them to allow the authorities of the nation they came to live in to deal with it?
There needs to be some heavy sentencing, for the police (armed) to go visit those car parks where the dealing being done (where Junaid Khan was shot is a well known place for dealers. Perhaps the police are too busy giving out parking tickets or something to deal with trivialities like armed drug dealers) and make the local Asian Mafia's lives miserable in the extreme.
If there is a riot over that, then really, that speak less over the north-west's lamentable lack of integration, and more that Asian communities are willing to defend their own violent criminals over the safety of the entire community as a whole. That's not a message any community, regardless of colour or creed, should be sending out.
Will anything get done? Doubt it - Junaid Khan will be forgotten by all but his friends and family, the problem will persist and more will die. But hey, that's the politically correct way of doing things, where a little spilled blood is a worthwhile price for not upsetting ghettoized enclaves.

This is what you get whwn authority quits making the hard choices - and prefers to be loved instead by chosen victims. Victims die, alas.
